Providing safe drinking water to New Braunfels is our highest priority.

Regulated by Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), NBU follows strict standards to ensure that the public drinking water supply remains safe.

Our customers also have a responsibility to help keep the public water supply safe. If a source of water exists on your property, like an irrigation system or a pool, the possibility for contamination is there.

Backflow preventers are required to prevent contamination whenever there is an actual or potential hazard for a cross-connection to ensure your and the community’s water supply remains safe.

A Customer Service Inspection (CSI) shall be completed before NBU provides continuous water service to new construction or on any existing service. The inspection should be done when NBU suspects that cross-connections or other potential contaminant hazards exist or after any material improvement, correction, or addition to the customer’s private water system. If NBU does not have a CSI on file for you, you will be sent letters asking for proof of a completed inspection certificate.

New Braunfels Utilities uses a contracted vendor to complete CSI certificates on all new residential and commercial properties. To schedule your CSI Inspection, contact Hardin & Associates at 830-433-7715, email admin@hactexas.com, or schedule online.

For more information on backflow prevention, call 830.608.8880 or email backflow@nbutexas.com.

Backflow into a public water system can pollute or contaminate the water in that system, making it unsafe to drink.

FAQ

Waste Disposal

Those who live outside the city limits must subscribe to solid waste services through a private hauler. For questions regarding City-provided services, call the City of New Braunfels Solid Waste & Recycling Division at 830.221.4040, email sanitation@nbtexas.org.

Fats, Oils, and Grease Disposal

Pouring used cooking oil and grease down a sink can be unhealthy and costly. When
fats, oils, and grease are released into the sewer lines, they can seriously degrade the
collection system’s ability to remove waste.
