(New Braunfels, TX – November 29, 2022) – New Braunfels Utilities (NBU) invites the community to attend the Rate Advisory Committee Forum on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at 6:00 p.m., at theMcKenna Events Center, 801 West San Antonio Street, New Braunfels, Texas.
The 18-member Rate Advisory Committee, appointed by the NBU Board of Trustees in April 2022, has worked alongside NBU staff and its vendors to learn how NBU maintains fair and equitable rates based on the costs to provide service to its residential, commercial, and industrial classes.
The Rate Advisory Committee is tasked with bringing community values to the NBU rate design structure and providing input for rate strategy and policy. With that in mind, NBU customers are encouraged to attend the NBU Rate Advisory Committee Forum, an opportunity for public input about the committee’s work in reviewing key NBU policies regarding future rate strategies.
During the Forum, the community will learn more about the committee’s findings and have the opportunity to share their thoughts and feedback.
New Braunfels Utilities’ customers have the ability to influence the rate structure to help reflect our community’s values and ensure an equitable and resilient plan before rates are ultimately approved by the New Braunfels City Council, which holds final authority for approving NBU’s rates.
The Rate Advisory Committee will present the preliminary rate structure to the NBU Board of Trustees in February 2023 and the final rate plan in March 2023. New Braunfels Utilities will go before City Council for approval of the rate plan in April 2023.
For those who are unable to attend the Forum, it will be live-streamed at nbutexas.com/RAC-forum. Questions are welcome and can be submitted prior to the event.
