(New Braunfels, TX – March 1, 2023) – Current projections indicate New Braunfels Utilities (NBU) customers will see a decrease in the second-quarter cost of power compared to the first quarter of 2023.  The decrease equates to a monthly savings of $7.20 in April and May and $10.80 in June.

The quarterly cost of power forecast is intended to help customers estimate and budget their electric utility costs. As customers prepare for warmer weather, electricity usage typically increases as customers cool their homes. By understanding the cost per kilowatt hour, customers can initiate conservation techniques to help lower their use and save money.

The table below reflects the calendar year 2023, second-quarter total cost of power forecast, based on a residential average of 1,200 kWh usage. The April and May monthly per kWh forecast is estimated at 11.81 cents, and June’s estimate is at 11.51 cents, plus the monthly Electric Service Availability Charge.

It is important to note that this quarterly forecast is subject to change should NBU experience extreme weather and/or energy market events. Definitions for each line item on the NBU bill and any necessary updates to the quarterly forecasting can be found at nbutexas.com/rate-breakdown.
