(New Braunfels, TX – October 2, 2023) – The New Braunfels Utilities (NBU) Board of Trustees (BOT) and Leadership teams gained valuable insight from the Rate Advisory Committee’s work to help set rates for the 2023 – 2025 fiscal year rate plans. Community involvement helped guide and shape NBU’s rate plan and offer customers a more equitable rate system.

The NBU BOT charged the NBU leadership with forming a Community Advisory Panel (CAP) that would mirror the Rate Advisory Committee’s success and offer its customers an opportunity to be directly involved with reviewing projects such as its Integrated Resource Plan reviewing energy supply and costs, water resource topics like the One Water initiative, drought, water supply, and conservation.

The CAP members will work with NBU staff and make recommendations to the NBU BOT on matters related to the Fiscal Year 2025 – 2026 Rate Design Study.

New Braunfels Utilities invites NBU customers interested in working with NBU and subject matter experts committed to the betterment of the New Braunfels community to apply for membership.

Selected members will meet monthly and serve up to a three-year staggered term. All meetings will be open to the public.

New Braunfels Utilities is accepting applications from October 2 through October 16, 2023. To learn more about this unique opportunity and to apply to be a member of the CAP, visit nbutexas.com/community-advisory-panel or call 830.629.8480.

The CAP will consist of 13 members: seven nominated by the New Braunfels City Council, four nominated by the NBU BOT, and two participants selected from the open application process.
