NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas (Nov. 27, 2024) – New Braunfels Utilities (NBU) has received the prestigious Texas PRIMA Risk Management Achievement Award. Presented during the Texas Public Risk Management Association’s Annual Conference, this recognition underscores NBU’s innovative approach to risk management and its dedication to safeguarding its team members, the community and the essential services NBU provides.
“Our Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program is more than a set of protocols—it’s a mindset,” said Dawn Schriewer, Chief Financial Officer. “We are especially proud of the progress we’ve made across our organization, building a stronger, more resilient foundation for our future. Together, we’ve created a culture where risk management is not just a responsibility but a shared commitment.”
Knowing the project was a significant undertaking, NBU worked for the past five years on strategic planning and execution of the ERM. Now, one year into full operation, NBU sees the benefits of the endeavor with some risks being mitigated and others shifted to a reduced level of probability – a direct result of NBU’s proactive oversight.
Receiving this award highlights NBU’s ability to adapt and lead in the field of public utility management. NBU will also have the opportunity to share its ERM program and its benefits with Texas PRIMA membership through presentations and online articles. This accolade not only highlights NBU’s excellence but also serves as a testament to its ability to lead by example in the industry. For more information about NBU, visit www.nbutexas.com.
