A virtual public meeting is being held on February 9, 2021, from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. to discuss the City of New Braunfels’ proposed project on behalf of New Braunfels Utilities to expand the Surface Water Treatment Plant located at 2356 Gruene Road, New Braunfels, TX 78130, from eight MGD to 16 MGD to meet increasing drinking water demand.

In observance of COVID-19 social distancing measures, this meeting will be held online at or via telephone at 1.877.309.2073, using access code 857.628.069.

One of the purposes of this meeting is to discuss the potential environmental and 100-year floodplain impacts of the project and alternatives to it. The total estimated cost of the project is $40,000,000.  Currently, the typical off-peak monthly water bill for a resident/user, with 6,000 gallons of usage, is $23.66. There will be no additional rate increase or additional fees, beyond what is already incorporated into the current financial operating plan, required to finance this project.

Financial assistance (or an application for financial assistance) for the project has been obtained from (or will be filed with) the Texas Water Development Board, P.O. Box 13231, Austin, Texas, 78711-3231.

An Environmental Information Document for the project will be available for public review for 30 days following the date of this notice.
