October Around Town: NBU in the Community

October 30, 2026

October brought cooler weather, fall festivities and plenty of opportunities for New Braunfels Utilities (NBU) employees to get out and spend time with our neighbors.

At NBU, our commitment to the community extends beyond providing essential electric, water and wastewater services. It also means showing up for local traditions, lending a hand and supporting the people who make New Braunfels home.

As the fall season continues, we’re grateful for the opportunities to spend time with our neighbors and support the events that bring New Braunfels together, and happy to call this our home. Here’s a look at how our team spent October.

Operation MedSafe: A Safe Way to Clean Out the Medicine Cabinet

On October 3, NBU welcomed 92 vehicles during Operation MedSafe, helping residents safely dispose of unused and expired medications. The event offered a simple way for neighbors to clear out their medicine cabinets while helping protect local waterways and keep medications out of the wrong hands.

National Night Out: Fall Fun With Our Neighbors

The Headwaters at the Comal welcomed families and neighbors on October 6 for National Night Out. NBU employees spent the evening sharing information, answering questions and getting to know the people we serve in a relaxed, family-friendly setting.

Monarch Festival: Falling for Nature

On October 24, NBU joined families at Fischer Park for the annual Monarch Festival, celebrating Texas’ state insect with fall-themed activities, games and hands-on learning. Our team connected with visitors to share the importance of protecting natural resources and how small actions at home can help care for our environment.

A Spook-tacular Time With the Community

Downtown New Braunfels was filled with costumes, candy and Halloween spirit during Downtown Spooktacular on October 29. NBU joined local businesses, City departments and community partners to hand out treats and help create a fun, safe trick-or-treating experience for local families.
