Right of Way Specialist

The Right of Way Specialist is responsible for assisting the department with real estate research, negotiations, and acquisition of land rights needed for the installation, use, and maintenance of the public utilities’ infrastructure and other real estate interests and assets. This position includes obtaining and analyzing property ownership information, land title documents, appraisal data, and preparing easement documentation to support utility capital improvement projects.

The Right of Way Specialist will assist in the acquisition activities through a defined process, including assisting with securing NBU easementsaccomplishing easement encroachment and abandonment requests, answering easement questions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely completion of assigned tasks.

Water Protection Specialist

Electric Lineman Apprenticeship Program

Help ensure our community has reliable and efficient electric services 24/7.

New Braunfels Utilities offers a comprehensive Electric Lineman Apprenticeship Program approved by the U.S. Department of Labor. This four-year program combines on-the-job training with classroom instruction to prepare participants for a career as a skilled electric lineman.

Apprentices receive progressive training designed to build technical knowledge, safety awareness, and hands-on experience in the field.

To qualify, you must have:

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • A current class “A” CDL
  • Completion of a pole climbing course from a certified agency
  • One to three years of related experience

Pre-Apprenticeship Training Program

Groundsmen are hired at the entry level and provided the opportunity to gain the experience and qualifications needed for advancement into the apprenticeship program.

All candidates — internal or external — considered for admission must demonstrate the skills, abilities, and commitment required to succeed in a structured training environment.
