Critical Care Program | New Braunfels Utilities

Critical Care Program Overview

We know how important reliable power is—especially for customers who depend on electric-powered medical equipment to support their health and safety. If someone in your home relies on life-sustaining or medically necessary equipment, New Braunfels Utilities’ Critical Care Program is here to help.

An elderly woman lies on a couch under a blanket while another older woman leans in, smiling and holding her hand in a well-lit room.

This program allows us to better support qualifying households by keeping a registry of service locations with critical medical needs and by making reasonable efforts to provide advance notice of certain service interruptions whenever possible.

Important Information

While NBU makes every effort to support our critical care customers, enrollment in this program does not guarantee uninterrupted electric service. Customers designated as critical load are responsible for arranging alternative power sources, such as backup generators or battery systems, in the event of a local outage or ERCOT-directed load shed event. Participation in the program does not exempt customers from planned service interruptions, financial responsibilities, or service termination in accordance with NBU policies.
