Water Line Inventory Program
Protecting Drinking Water Through Transparency and Planning
We take pride in providing safe, clean drinking water to our community. As part of that commitment, New Braunfels Utilities launched the Water Line Inventory Program in April 2023 to identify the materials used in water service lines throughout our service area.
This effort helps determine whether any lead service lines still exist on the customer-facing side of properties.

While lead service lines are highly unlikely, identifying materials supports drinking water safety and helps protect public health.
Why We Conducted the Inventory
The Water Line Inventory Program was developed in response to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s 2021 Lead and Copper Rule Revisions. These federal requirements direct water utilities to inventory all water service lines within their service areas.
For New Braunfels Utilities, all service lines installed before 1983 were included in the survey. This timeline was approved specifically for NBU by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. The completed inventory was submitted to the Environmental Protection Agency on October 26, 2024.
