Operation MedSafe Returns to New Braunfels
Operation MedSafe is back!
New Braunfels Utilities (NBU) is giving residents a safe and convenient way to dispose of expired and unused medications.
Saturday, Oct. 3
8 a.m. to noon
NBU Service Center, 355 FM 306
Residents may bring expired or unused prescription medications and over-the-counter pills, tablets, capsules, patches, liquids and powders. Medications should be left in their original containers, and residents should remove or mark out personal information on prescription labels before drop-off.
What cannot be accepted:
For the safety of employees, volunteers, law enforcement officers and others participating in the event, the following items cannot be accepted: insulin syringes, sharps or needles; unused preloaded auto-injectors; asthma inhalers; compressed cylinders or other aerosol products; iodine-containing medications; and mercury-containing thermometers.
Operation MedSafe helps prevent accidental ingestion or misuse and keeps medications from being flushed or poured down drains, helping protect the community and its water resources. Law enforcement officers will be on-site to take possession of collected medications and ensure they are handled and disposed of properly.
The event is free and open to the community.
